Forge de Savignac Lédrier

This foundry on the banks of the Auvézère River, with water rustling in the background, is one of the most remarkable sites in the Périgord. Overlooked by the castle of the Masters of the Forge, the blast furnace still bears witness to bygone activity, and was the last in France to run on charcoal. A footpath, accessible all year round, circles the forge in an enchanting setting of water and woodlands.
